Often at dusk, I am either getting back from school/work or getting ready for a long evening (and night) in the dingy lab or having a short nap to re energize my mind(yeah, right :P). After a long time, I lived the most beautiful evening ever! It seemed almost surreal. Out of the blue, here I was on this beautiful beach(Benton harbor on the shores of Lake Michigan), perched on a cute bench-like swing with a fantastic view of the lake and the sky. I went there along with a couple of friends to attend an alumni event of my undergrad institution. My friends, each had a business to attend the first evening and I had the evening to myself. Usually, I am the kind of person that prefers company to any other alternative, but this evening I loved being with myself [I know someone is smiling :)]. I hadn't slept even a minute the previous night, thanks to an awful assignment (and having started it just a couple of days before it was due was not a great idea/excuse either). I came home from the lab early morning (yeah! I saw sunrise!!) and we left for the trip within the hour. I was sure I would spend the entire evening catching up with my ever important sleep debt while these people went about their business. Oddly, I wasn't sleepy. I grabbed a book, crossed the road from where we were staying and landed on the beach(awesome , no?), found a pretty swing and parked myself for the evening. For once, I had the presence of mind to carry the camera with me. It was still very sunny and there was a pleasant breeze (which was such a respite from the biting wintry winds) and people lazing around on the sands. It was such an idyllic sight. For long, I was just staring at nothing in particular, taking in the sights, letting my thoughts wander. For a while, I would read the book, take some random pictures, look around, swing a little, hum a tune to myself and live the moment. It was bliss!!!, one I cannot describe in words!

A vivid post Charan! can imagine the sunset with its orange hues on the twilight sky...wow!...totally agree with you on living the moment. Glad you enjoyed it!

Yep....and the name of the island that I was trying to remember was The Makinac, further North, I think.
As for the pics...it did not let me thru! Hope to see them :-)!
You should start writing again.
Now that I know you peep in here, maybe I should :P
